PRODUCTS INFORMATION

Emerald uses living soil, natural sunlight, no pesticides and hand grooming to ensure crops are healthy and jam packed with aromas and flavours.

Our trimmed flowers are dried slowly on screens and hung branches within a controlled environment that includes fans and dehumidifiers. It can take seven to ten days to dry and another week of curing to achieve the ideal moisture content of 10% to 12%, giving our cannabis a uniformly dry texture and perfect aroma. No. Emerald does not use pesticides on any of our products. If there ever was a case for pest mitigation, we would only use specific products and methods approved by Health Canada. We also test all products at a third-party lab. Explore Emerald’s product range.

PATIENT REGISTRATION

Although your application form may be submitted via fax, email, or mail, Cannabis Regulations requires all applicants to submit their original Medical Document via mail. The only exception is having your original Medical Document and Registration Document sent directly through your Health Care Practitioner by secure fax at 1.800.757.3536

If you change your mind and no longer want to proceed with the registration, please notify us as soon as possible. Emerald will return your paperwork to you at your request if you have not yet been fully registered and approved. If your medical document was faxed, unfortunately we cannot return it to you. If you have already been registered and approved with us, Emerald is required to keep the original Medical Document, and we will send you confirmation of your cancellation. If you wish to transfer your medical document simply send us an email to clients@emeraldhealth.ca requesting the transfer and where you would like us to transfer you to.

To change your personal information after registration has been completed, you must complete a Request for Registration Amendment. Please send this form back to use once it is completed. It can be returned to us via email us at clients@emeraldhealth.ca, fax to 1.855.623.3325, or mail to:

Once we receive your completed forms our Client Care team will begin the registration process. This includes reviewing the forms and ensuring all of the documentation is fully completed and meets Cannabis Regulation standards. Next, we contact your physician or nurse practitioner to validate your information, as required by Health Canada.

At this point, it’s up to your physician or nurse practitioner to respond to our inquiries before we can conclude the registration process. This is why some patients take longer to register than others, some taking a few hours and others up to several business days. To fully comply with Cannabis Regulations,  Emerald has to receive and verify specific documents before registering and approving a patient. To start the process, fill out the application form available for download. Mail the application to us along with your fully completed and valid medical document. Health Canada only allows original mailed documents*, so please do not email. Send them to:

*Alternatively, your doctor’s office may fax both the Medical Document and the Registration Application forms to us at 1.855.623.3325. You will be notified once you become approved, which generally only takes a few days (depending on your doctor’s availability for verification).

While we wait for the upcoming legalization changes to be announced, we are still operating under the ACMPR (Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations) which went into effect on August 24, 2016. This allows eligible Canadians with a valid Medical Document from their physician access to a prescribed amount of medicinal cannabis through a licensed producer. Explore Emerald’s product range.

After we receive your Medical Document and new Registration form we will begin processing your documents as quickly as possible. The process is exactly the same as the first time you registered, as we must verify your Medical Document with your Health Care Practitioner and process your information before activating your renewal. No. Signing up on our website is only the first step in the registration process. Legally, you become a registered patient under the Health Canada Cannabis Regulations guidelines after you receive approval notification that the Medical Document and Emerald Registration form has been submitted and approved. Your prescription is valid only during a specific time period provided by your physician. When your prescription expires you will need to complete a new registration application and submit a new, original medical document. To start the renewal process, please click here.

Yes. As long as the mandatory information is included and the same criteria used for our own medical document is met, Emerald will accept other medical documents to fill a medical cannabis prescription. To start the Emerald registration process, please click here.

There are only two ways to send your Medical Document for renewal. Due to Health Canada regulations, Emerald is required to only accept an original Medical Documents via mail (not email) from patients. The second way to submit your Medical Document is through a secure fax by your physician. Please fax the document to 1.855.623.3325.

According to Health Canada regulations, the Responsible Individual is someone other than the actual patient applying for use of medical cannabis. This person may assist the applicant in all areas of their registration with Emerald and is to be held responsible for the applying patient and can be a spouse or partner, parent, sibling or child (of legal age), etc. The Responsible Individual section of the application form must be completed.

No. The amount of dried cannabis expressed grams permitted on a daily basis (grams/day) by your physician will translate directly into your cannabis oil order. For example, if your physician suggests ordering cannabis oil in lieu of your previous dried medical cannabis dosage, an equivalency factor will be used with your active prescription to determine the amount of cannabis oil to be dosed and purchased. Yes. Emerald periodically contacts our patients through email. This includes any updates, new product releases, upcoming renewals, and prescription expiries. Unfortunately, no. Health Canada restricts licensed producers from accepting an Authorization to Possess (ATP) in lieu of having a medical document. To register with Emerald you must go through the registration process, filling out the application form and obtaining a medical document from your Health Care Practitioner. Through the Cannabis Regulations, Canadian residents may access medical cannabis from Emerald – a federally licensed producer. Due to this, you must acquire a Medical Document (section 273) – which is similar to a prescription – from your doctor or health care practitioner. Yes. The Cannabis Regulations guidelines allow you to register with more than one licensed producer. However, in order for the medical documents to be valid, you must use separate, original medical documentation for each licensed producer. CANNABIS USAGE

You are allowed to travel within Canada as long as you keep your prescription documentation with you at all times. Patients are allowed to carry 30 times their daily limit – up to 150g – within Canada. All international travel with medical cannabis is strictly prohibited. Although researchers have proven that the THC in cannabis degrades over time, there is no data yet to suggest that the product has a firm expiration date. Emerald suggests that you store your medical cannabis in a sealed container and in a cool, dark location. Explore Emerald’s product range.
Patients with valid prescriptions and documentation are allowed to carry 30 times their daily limit, up to 150g within Canada. Make sure you have your prescription documentation with you. Carrying medical cannabis outside of Canada is strictly prohibited. Explore Emerald’s product range.
Your actions should directly reflect the severity of your reaction. If severe, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. If your reaction is mild, contact your physician as soon as possible. Either way, please let your physician know about your reaction.

Your proof to legally possess your medical cannabis the receipt that was sent with your medication.  The receipt will have the lot number which is also found on the immediate packaging of your medication. In order to comply with the Cannabis regulations and prove to authorities you’re legally allowed to possess medical marijuana, it is necessary to keep your receipt from that matches with the order you are carying with you and the container the medicine came in with you at all times.

Adults who are 18 or 19 years or older (depending on province or territory) are able to posses up to 30 grams of legal dried cannabis, or its equivalent in non-dried form, and grow up to 4 plants.

No. Emerald strongly advises that patients avoid driving motor vehicle or any sort of heavy machinery while under the influence of cannabis as there are legal and safety implications.

Yes. Within your monthly allowed amount, you may purchase different strains that fit within your prescription. For example, if your Health Care Practitioners recommends using strains below 14% THC, you may try different strains that meet those guidelines. As per Revenue Canada, your medical cannabis is subject to taxation, depending on the province in which you reside. This means the tax you are charged is based on the tax rate in your specific province. Remember to keep your invoices for claiming on your income tax.

Yes. You may claim your sales receipts from your medical cannabis on your income taxes. Please ensure you keep the receipts sent to you with your product for this purpose.
Emerald accepts most credit cards, pre-paid credit cards and credit card gift cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit, Visa Gift Card. We also accept both e-transfer and cheques.
